Nursing Necklace - Engaging Distracted Infants

As many new mothers do, I struggled with breastfeeding early on. My first child, Megan, and I had a difficult time figuring each other out. With extra encouragement and a wonderful lactation consultant, I found the will to continue. With some extra effort, we were soon nursing with ease. However, my slumbering baby soon turned into a curious, wide-eyed explorer. Megan, who used to nurse contentedly for what seemed liked hours, was now interested in everything but eating! She was also continually pulling (and breaking) my finer jewelry. The idea of a "nursing necklace", that was a safe all-purpose - mommy inspired necklaces - was exactly what I needed.

I created our first 'Mommy & Megan Necklace' four years ago. Over the course of our two year nursing relationship, I watched Megan interact with our necklaces. She challenged me to continually improve them and find ways to make them more safe and durable. During those two years, keeping a regular necklace in one piece was a challenge. I continually pursued my interest in developing a necklace for moms - one we could wear with confidence again.

In 2007, I welcomed my second child into the word, Evan. I am happy to say that this time, I've not lost any valuable jewelry to strong hands - the necklaces have worked like a charm. He has made me reexplore my designs and because of Evan, I invented the fixed pendant line of necklaces.

This opportunity not only cured my bruises from my pinching babies, but it has also allowed me work from home full-time (WAHM), while staying at home with my daughter and son. I am a certified teacher with a B.S. in Early Childhood. I have had a variety of experiences working with different ages and stage of child development including children with special needs, teaching toddlers, preschoolers, and the early elementary grade levels.
